Zerose Minibang
A collaboration event between Zerose artists and writers!
What's a 'Minibang'?
A 'Minibang' is a scaled down version of a 'Bigbang' event in which fanfiction writers and artists come together to collaborate on a story (Less than 50k word count). The writer creates a story while the artist draws for it. The aim is for the creatives of our fandom to come together and create something beautiful!

Our rules and guidelines
❀ RULE 1 ❀
Works should include ZB1 members as main characters: the focus can be on any combination of them, either romantic (excluding Han Yujin ships, see Rule 3) or platonic. Crossovers are not allowed for the main characters but non-ZB1 members may appear as side characters or in side pairings with ZB1 members.❀ RULE 2 ❀
Written works must be a minimum of 5,000 words at the time of submission. When completed, they should not be higher than a maximum of 50,000 words. We encourage writers to finish their works by the time of submission, but if unfinished, they may be finished later at the writer’s own pace with the word count remaining within the specified limit.❀ RULE 3 ❀
We do not accept works with explicit content. All fics must be rated G or T. Works with incest or pedophilia are not allowed. Avoid glorification of self-harm. Han Yujin is also off-limits for any romantic pairings. For more details on appropriate rating of content, please refer to the General section of our FAQs.❀ RULE 4 ❀
Please tag fics appropriately according to the content of the fic. If you are not sure of what tags to add, please do not hesitate to contact the writer mods.❀ RULE 5 ❀
Artists under 18 must register themselves as minors during the sign-up process. Failure to comply with this rule or dishonesty will result in suspension from the event. The minimum age of participation is 15.❀ RULE 6 ❀
Use of all AI in both artworks and written works is strictly prohibited. We will be pairing writers up with beta-readers for this specific purpose.❀ RULE 7 ❀
Please remain respectful to all participants as well as mods. This event is meant to foster friendships and any hostile behaviour is unacceptable. If you do have any complaints or want to report bullying or harassment, please do not hesitate to contact a mod.

Our Frequently asked questions
GENERAL QUESTIONS
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Writers, artists, and beta readers can sign up using the appropriate Google form. Please refer to 'Our Timelines' section on the main page for more information about the dates. As we want to match each writer with an artist, there might be a cap on the number of sign-ups we accept, and the forms would close early. If you want to participate, please sign up as early as you can!IS THERE A CAP ON THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
There is no set cap on the number of people that can participate, but we are looking to make artist-writer pairs, so we will be looking for an equal number of artists and writers for this event.IS IT POSSIBLE TO BE PLACED ON A WAITLIST?
In the event that there is an unequal number of sign-ups between writers and artists, we may open a waitlist if we are unable to balance the sign-ups in case someone needs to drop out during the event. If a spot opens up, we will DM you to confirm you would be interested in participating. If you move up from the waitlist as a writer, the minimum word count contribution will be lowered since you may have less time to write.CAN I SIGN UP AS BOTH A WRITER AND AN ARTIST?
Currently, it is only possible to sign up as a writer OR an artist as we want to be as fair as possible when assigning the pairs and giving everyone an opportunity to participate.WHY ARE MINORS ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT?
Since a considerable number of younger artists expressed their interest in this event, and since we have never had a fandom-wide event that allowed the participation of minors, we have decided to open the minibang to 15+ Zeroses on the condition that no explicit content will be produced for any art or fics for this event.WHY WAS EXPLICIT CONTENT BANNED?
In order to make this space safe, inclusive, and comfortable for everyone, we have decided to ban the production of explicit content across the entire event to avoid exposure of minors to any explicit content through the event– even among adult pairs.WHAT IF I ALREADY HAVE EXPLICIT CONTENT POSTED ON MY ACCOUNT, CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?
Of course! As long as you are comfortable and the work you produce for this event is rated G or T. If you are concerned about potentially interacting with minors, you can specifically request to be paired with another non-minor participant. All pairings will work independently throughout the event and all works will be SFW in the final collection to prevent minors from interacting with explicit content through this event.WILL PROMPTS BE PROVIDED?
The aim of this project is for artists and writers to come up with a story idea on their own from the basic plot down to the scene details. Thus, we are not offering prompts as we want creators to have full creative freedom to whatever they want!WRITER GUIDELINES FOR BETA READER PAIRING PROCESS
A spreadsheet with every available Beta Reader for the Minibang will be privately shared with the writers. You will be able to contact the person you would like to work with. While working with a beta reader, please remember the following:1. Be explicit with what you need/are expecting from your beta early on.
2. Communicate your deadlines, and respect them! Leave enough time for your Beta Reader to work.
3. Be kind and respectful when interacting with your Beta Reader!BETA READER GUIDELINES
As a beta-reader, you are here to help with the editing process. As such, please follow the following guidelines:
1. Let the mods know when you’re not available anymore. We will update our Beta Reader spreadsheet so you won’t be contacted by other authors.
2. Beta readers are responsible for their own time and abilities. Do not accept more than you can chew! Remember, works are 5k words minimum, 10k on average and up to 50k.
3. You’re allowed to refuse working with someone soliciting you, don’t forget to politely decline.
4. Be open about your own deadlines and time, and respect your author's time!
5. Be kind and respectful when talking with your author and leaving comments on their works!RATING GUIDELINES
AO3 has established the following guidelines for rating written works:
1. Not Rated
This is the default option. For searching, screening, and other Archive functions, this may get treated the same way as mature and explicit-rated content.
2. General Audiences
The content is unlikely to be disturbing to anyone and is suitable for all ages.
3. Teen And Up Audiences
The content may be inappropriate for audiences under 13.
4. Mature
The content contains adult themes (sex, violence, etc) that aren't as graphic as explicit-rated content.
5. Explicit
The content contains explicit adult themes, such as detailed sex scenes, graphic violence, etc.Movie Ratings for reference1. G - General Audiences. All Ages Admitted.
A G-rated motion picture contains nothing in theme, language, nudity, sex, violence or other matters that, in the view of the Rating Board, would offend parents whose younger children view the motion picture. The G rating is not a "certificate of approval," nor does it signify a "children's" motion picture. Some snippets of language may go beyond polite conversation but they are common everyday expressions. No stronger words are present in G-rated motion pictures. Depictions of violence are minimal. No nudity, sex scenes or drug use are present in the motion picture.
Examples: The Lion King, Ratatouille, Toy Story, Kiki’s Delivery Service2. PG - Parental Guidance Suggested. Some Material May Not Be Suitable For Children.
A PG-rated motion picture should be investigated by parents before they let their younger children attend. The PG rating indicates, in the view of the Rating Board, that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, and parents should make that decision. The more mature themes in some PG-rated motion pictures may call for parental guidance. There may be some profanity and some depictions of violence or brief nudity. But these elements are not deemed so intense as to require that parents be strongly cautioned beyond the suggestion of parental guidance. There is no drug use content in a PG-rated motion picture
Examples: Paddington, Spirited Away, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse3. PG-13 - Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some Material May Be Inappropriate For Children Under 13.
A PG-13 rating is a sterner warning by the Rating Board to parents to determine whether their children under age 13 should view the motion picture, as some material might not be suited for them. A PG-13 motion picture may go beyond the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, adult activities or other elements, but does not reach the restricted R category. The theme of the motion picture by itself will not result in a rating greater than PG-13, although depictions of activities related to a mature theme may result in a restricted rating for the motion picture. Any drug use will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. More than brief nudity will require at least a PG-13 rating, but such nudity in a PG-13 rated motion picture generally will not be sexually oriented. There may be depictions of violence in a PG-13 movie, but generally not both realistic and extreme or persistent violence.
Examples: The Avengers: Endgame, Jurassic Park, Twilight, The Hunger Games, The Lord of the Rings franchise4. R - Restricted. Children Under 17 Require Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian.
An R-rated motion picture, in the view of the Rating Board, contains some adult material. An R-rated motion picture may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually-oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements, so that parents are counseled to
take this rating very seriously. Children under 17 are not allowed to attend R-rated motion pictures unaccompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Parents are strongly urged to find out more about R-rated motion pictures in determining their suitability for their children. Generally, it is not appropriate for parents to bring their young children with them to R-rated motion pictures.
Examples: Deadpool, Oppenheimer, Fifty Shades of GreyIf you have a specific question or any concerns, feel free to confirm with the mods by DMs, Discord, or Neospring.
PAIRING QUESTIONS
HOW DOES THE PAIRING PROCESS WORK?
Upon sign-up, writers will be asked to provide a short description of an idea that they would like to develop for this event. It doesn’t need to be complete, just giving a few of the main details like the ship, setting, dynamic, some tags, and a few lines to describe your personal writing style will help artists get an idea of whether it will make a good match!Artists will then receive a sheet with the anonymous writer bios which will be filterable based on ship, main tags, and age preferences of the partner. They will select their top four choices via Google Forms to make the match. After all the artist forms have been received, we will use a matching algorithm (written by a mod) to try to pair each artist with one of their top four choices. Don’t worry, the order of the matching will be randomized, so there’s no advantage to submitting your form earlier or later! If there are any artists or writers unable to be matched by the algorithm, we will do our best to match them by hand based on the preferences of each participant. We will confirm each match made by the algorithm by hand as well to ensure no discrepancies.WHAT IF THERE IS SOMEONE I DO NOT WISH TO BE PAIRED WITH? WILL A LIST OF PARTICIPANTS BE RELEASED IN ADVANCE?
Unfortunately, we will not be able to release a list of participants in advance. We will also be anonymizing the participating writers during the matching process in order to keep the spirit of making new connections across the fandom. If there is an individual you are seriously concerned about potentially matching with, please contact the moderators by DMs before the matches are made.WHAT IF I AM ONLY COMFORTABLE BEING PAIRED WITH SOMEONE OF A CERTAIN AGE?
Of course, we completely understand these concerns. This is why we ask for both the participant’s age (in a range) AND a range of ages that they would be comfortable working with. We will do our best to match pairings based on these preferences and respect all participant’s hard nos.WHAT IF I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY PARTNER? WILL I BE ABLE TO CHANGE MY PARTNER?
If you have a serious problem with your pair, please reach out to the mods by DMs. We will also have a first check-in after the first three weeks of the work period with all the pairs just to confirm that the match has been working well. We ask that unless there is a serious conflict that you do your best to work with your originally assigned match, but if there is a problem, please do not hesitate to reach out to the mods.HOW WILL THE BETA READERS AND WRITERS PAIRING PROCESS WORK?Beta readers willing to participate in the Zerose Minibang event will have to complete a form to let writers know the following:
1. What kind of stories are they okay to read,
2. What kind of beta-reading services they’re able to provide,
3. What do they want to let the writers know about them. The resulting spreadsheet will be anonymised and privately shared to the participating writers asking for it. Writers will then be able to let the mods know, based on the provided information, which reader they would like to work with (up to 4 picks). We will then reveal the selected readers’ contact information to the writers, who will have to get in touch directly. The spreadsheet compiling every Beta Readers who applied will only be used during and for the Zerose Minibang 2025. Your contact info will not be shared outside of it.
WRITER QUESTIONS
IS IT REQUIRED TO HAVE A BETA READER? CAN I FIND MY OWN OUTSIDE BETA READER?
Beta readers are not required, but they are highly recommended. We have so many amazing Zerose beta readers in our fandom that would love to support you in creating your stories! If you would like a beta reader, we would be happy to match you with a beta reader. However, if you would like to find your own beta reader privately, that is perfectly ok as well!CAN MY FIC BE BASED OFF SOMETHING i'VE ALREADY WRITTEN OR DOES IT HAVE TO BE A BRAND NEW STORY?
The idea you work on for this event can have some similarities to other works you have written/created, but since we will be anonymizing the writers for the matching process, we ask that you share an idea that you have not posted or talked publicly about to keep the process fair.HOW MANY WORDS DO I NEED TO SUBMIT BY THE DEADLINE> CAN MY STORY BE INCOMPLETE?
We ask that you submit 10k words by the deadline, August 31st. Works can be up to 50k words upon completion.Your fic does not need to be completed by the deadline, and after submission feel free to complete it on your own time as you work in your partnership. However, we strongly recommend works be submitted as complete to be best enjoyed with their accompanying artwork.WHAT WILL I NEED TO SEND IN DURING THE CHECK-INS?
We understand that progress looks different for everyone! We won’t ask writers to share their entire wip at any point (unless they want to!), but just check in to make sure that the pairing is still working well and everything is on track to be submitted by the deadline. We will ask closer to the deadline that each writer shares a brief section of their piece to be posted as a teaser on the minibang account!DO I NEED AN AO3 ACCOUNT TO PARTICIPATE AS AN AUTHOR
Yes, all participating writers must have an AO3 account as we will be hosting the Minibang collection on the platform. If you don’t have an account, please request an invitation as soon as possible, as it may take up to a few weeks to receive the invite.CAN I SUBMIT AI-GENERATED WORKS?
No AI-generated content will be accepted to this event. If you choose to use AI as a grammar checker (though we highly encourage finding a beta reader instead), it must be tagged appropriately using the tags “AI as proofread,” “AI assistance,” or “AI beta."CAN I SET MY WORK TO REGISTERED USERS ONLY OR MUST IT BE PUBLICLY AVAILABLE?
Due to concerns around AI scraping of publicly available works on the Archive, we will accept works submitted to collection that are available only to registered users OR to the public depending on the authors’ preference. We ask that readers understand the sensitivity of this issue and apply for an invitation to the Archive as soon as possible if you don’t have an account (as it can take a few weeks to receive the invitation) or reach out to those who may have extra invitations so that you can enjoy all the works created for the event!
ARTIST QUESTIONS
WHAT TYPES OF ART ARE ACCEPTED FOR THE ZEROSE MINIBANG?
We accept art in all forms, be it in digital or traditional medium, a single artwork, a comic or an animation as long as it is made by a human and not generative AIWHERE SHOULD I POST MY ART?
At the end of the event, you would be required to post your art on your twitter profile on a date specified by us along with the written work of your writer partner. The Zerose Minibang account will repost your art. Before the final submission, we would ask you for a small section of your drawing and post it along with a snippet of the story as a teaser.CAN I CLAIM MORE THAN ONE STORY?
At the start of the event, you will be required to choose your top four prompts and then be paired with only one writer, hence one story. However, you have opted to list yourself as a backup artist, we might contact you during the duration of the period in case we need an artist to pair with another writer.

BETA READER QUESTIONS
DO I HAVE TO BE AN AUTHOR OR AN ARTIST MYSELF TO APPLY AS A BETA READER?
You don’t have to be an author or an artist to become a Beta Reader. You only need to be confident in your skills and what you can do to help them!WHAT SHOULD I DO AS A BETA READER
We will ask you to select what kind of beta work you’re comfortable offering:
1. First impression/mood check (what is the story impact on the reader, how do the reader feel when reading)
2. Proofreading (language revision: spelling, grammar)
3. Style editing (language use: punctuation, vocabulary choice, sentence/paragraph structure… )
4. Consistency checking (do the events, characters, actions, make sense in the context of the story?)
5. Sounding Board (helps with ideas and the story progression)CAN A PARTICIPATING AUTHOR/ARTIST SIGN-UP AS A BETA READER
Yes, as long as you can manage both roles!CAN I HELP MORE THAN ONE WRITER?
Depending on what kind of work you’re choosing to offer and your availability, you can. We will ask you to monitor the quantity of beta reading you can do in the fest deadlines, while privileging quality and respect to everyone involved!CAN I DROP OUT AS A BETA READER?
You can if you let your author and the mod team know as soon as possible so we can find a solution!IS IT REQUIRED TO HAVE A BETA READER? CAN I FIND MY OWN OUTSIDE BETA READER?
